Lift Operations manager - Day and Night shifts 12/16/2017 to 3/25/2018 or season end

Job Description:  Ensures the safe and efficient operation of all of Whaleback's ski lifts. Assist in hiring, training and supervising lift operations. 

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee all daily operations of the lifts
  • Ensure compliance with ANSI B77 standards, New Hampshire Passenger Tramway rules and regulations and all Whaleback policies and procedures.  Identify problem areas (signs not visible, ropes not in place, potential hazards, etc.) and rectify them as soon as possible
  • Communicate any variations from normal lift operating schedule (wind hold, delayed opening, mechanical issues, etc.) to Ski Patrol, Customer Service and Management immediately
  • Assist Ski Patrol with lift evacuation when needed
  • Schedule staff to ensure sufficient staffing
  • Assist lift operators in the morning pre-operational setup of all lifts, including snow removal, ramp maintenance, etc
  • Ensure that all morning pre-operational checks are completed properly
  • Provide breaks to lift operators
  • Ensure all shut-down procedures are followed to ensure passengers are not left on lift and that lift is ready to operate the following morning.
  • Assist in the maintenance of lift load and unload ramps throughout the day
  • Assist Lift Maintenance staff to ensure reliable operation of lifts
  • Perform all tasks of a Lift Operator as needed

Pay Rate: Base pay is $15/hr, increasing commensurate with experience

 

Lift Operators - Day and Night shifts 12/16/2017 to 3/25/2018 or season end

Job Summary:  Assists passengers in the safe loading and unloading of Whaleback Mountain’s four ski lifts.

 Essential Functions: 

  • Assist all passengers in the safe loading and unloading of the ski lift
  • Stall chairs to ensure the comfort and safety of passengers loading the lift
  • Slow or stop the lift as necessary to ensure passenger safety
  • Maintain load and unload ramps and areas around all lift stations by shoveling and/or raking snow
  • Ensure all chairs are clear of snow or ice before loading passengers
  • Identify potential hazards and report them immediately
  • Be familiar with all policies, procedures and rules regarding operating and riding a ski lift and ensure that these are followed by staff and customers
  • Implement emergency procedures, including contacting Ski Patrol
  • Perform daily pre-operation inspections and post-operation shutdown procedures
  • Check to ensure every skier or snowboarder has a valid day ticket or season pass each time before boarding the lift
  • Maintain cleanliness of lift shacks and work area, remove trash when necessary
  • Other lift operations duties as assigned

Pay Rate: Base pay is $10/hr, increasing commensurate with experience

 

Snowmakers - Day and Night shifts 11/27/2017 to 2/1/2018

Job Summary:  Utilizes the snowmaking equipment to produce and distribute snow on mountain trails in all weather conditions. This position is a 12 hour shift and required heavy lifting.

Essential Functions:   

  • Start up and shut down snowmaking system
  • Operate UTV/snowmobiles to reach snowmaking destinations and facilitate snowmaking process
  • Place snow guns and hoses appropriately on the mountain as directed by the Lead Snowmaker and/or the Mountain Manager
  • Operate high voltage equipment and high pressure air and water systems utilizing appropriate safety precautions
  • Ability to move to lift operations once snow making has ended for season

 Pay rate: Base pay is $10/hr, increasing commensurate with experience

 

Ski and Snowboard InstructorsWeekday and Weekend shifts 12/16/2017 to 3/25/2018 or season end

Job Summary:  Seeking fundamentally strong skiers/snowboarders with good people skills. Instruct skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities how to improve their ski/riding skills, while providing a fun and effective learning environment. Right candidate will be trained if they have never instructed before.

Essential Functions: 

  • Instructs groups and /or individuals in a fun lesson format
  • Teaches proper technique appropriate to the ability level of those being instructed
  • Promotes safety and gives students the knowledge to remain safe when they leave lessons to ski/ride on their own
  • Participates in clinics and free-skiing to constantly improve personal skiing skills
  • Greet guests and direct guests to proper lesson locations
  • Must successfully complete instructor training

Pay Rate: Base pay is $10/hr, increasing commensurate with experience

 

Food ServiceWeekday and Weekend shifts 12/16/2017 to 3/25/2018 or season end

Job Summary:  Performs various general food service duties in the cafe to maintain a sufficient quantity of fresh food for guests.

Essential Functions: 

  • Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner food
  • Cook and replenish food as necessary
  • Brew and restock coffee, coffee supplies, other beverages
  • Restock utensils and condiments
  • Clean tables to keep it neat and orderly
  • Prep for the next day by replenishing supplies and restocking food for morning shift
  • Work the register as needed, taking guest payments for food and lift tickets during slow periods

Pay Rate: Base pay is $10/hr, increasing commensurate with experience

 

Customer Service/Ski School Assistant - 12/16/2017 to 3/25/2018 or season end

Job Summary:  Assist customers in the lodge and over the phone

 Essential Functions: 

  • Greet customers and resolve issues/questions - escalating as required
  • Answering the phone, return customer calls
  • Selling of tickets, season passes and printing of season passes
  • Working with Ski School to schedule lessons and check in students during vacation week and after school programs
  • Light clean up of lodge during slow periods

Pay Rate: Base pay is $10/hr, increasing commensurate with experience.

 

Rental ShopWeekday and Weekend shifts 12/16/2017 to 3/25/2018 or season end

Job Summary:  To outfit customers with appropriate ski or snowboard rental equipment, perform tune-ups and minor repairs to ski & snowboard equipment, and run cash register to sell all rental, repair and retail products. 

Essential Functions:  

  • Provide excellent customer service to every person who enters the Retail Shop
  • Sell equipment rentals, retail items, etc
  • Assist guests in selecting appropriate ski or snowboard rental equipment
  • Measure guests' height, weight and shoe size
  • Adjust skis, snowboards, bindings and helmets to appropriate settings for rental
  • Distribute equipment to guests
  • Tune up and perform minor repairs to rental and guests' equipment
  • Assist in the overall cleanliness and functionality of the Rental & Retail shop 

 Pay Rate: Base pay is $10/hr, increasing commensurate with experience
