Uphill Skiing & Hiking Policy
Uphill travel by means of skinning or snowshoeing has gained popularity in recent years. Whaleback welcomes and supports our guests looking to enjoy the mountain in this manner. For the safety of our customers and employees we ask that everyone follow our guidelines. All travel is done at each individuals own risk.
There will be a designated route for uphill travel that will vary depending on conditions and mountain operations. The available route will be posted on the lift shack.
There is no charge for uphill skiing at this time however a tax free donation would be appreciated. Go to www.whaleback.com to make a donation.
Uphill travel is only allowed during non-operating hours and when snowmaking is not in progress. Please check the schedule posted on our website with the hours of operation. Exceptions will be made with clearly designated routes for uphill travel to view competition events.
During the early season uphill access is not permitted due to snowmaking, grooming and limited terrain. Please check with the Mountain Manager or guest services to confirm uphill access is allowed.
· Closed trails are prohibited at all times.
· Usage of the terrain parks are prohibited
· Dogs and other pets are not permitted on the mountain at any time (except service dogs only)
· Sledding is not permitted on the mountain at any time
Any person using any of the facilities of the ski area is considered a skier and as such is required to adhere to and obey all posted information and to be aware of trail closures and other operational considerations. Be especially aware of other skiers and riders. Snowmobiles, snow cats, snowmaking hoses and guns may be encountered at any time and the skier assumes all risks and understands that rescue is not available.
